Running Gait Analysis in Bellevue, WA

Stop Guessing. Start Running Smarter.

Running gait analysis at Continua Physio gives you a clear picture of how you move—where load is distributed, where compensations are building, and what's driving the limitations keeping you from training at your best.

Running Through It Isn't the Same as Fixing It.

The Same Spot Flares Up Every Time You Increase Mileage

You back off, it calms down—then it comes right back the moment training picks up again. The pattern keeps repeating.

You've Tried Everything Except Looking at How You Actually Run

Stretching, rest, and foam rolling help temporarily. None of them address the mechanics driving the issue in the first place.

Compensations Build Up Until Something Bigger Goes Wrong

When something is off in your gait, your body finds workarounds. Those compensations tend to create new problems down the road.

Common Conditions We Treat

What Gait Analysis May Help Address

Runners come to us when recurring pain or limitations are interrupting their training. Gait analysis helps identify the movement patterns at the root of those issues.

Runner's Knee / Patellofemoral Pain — Anterior knee discomfort that flares with increased mileage or downhill running and doesn't resolve with rest alone.

IT Band Syndrome — Lateral knee pain that emerges during long runs and forces cutbacks in training volume despite adequate rest and stretching.

Achilles Tendinopathy — Stiffness and discomfort in the Achilles that builds during or after runs, often tied to how load is absorbed in the lower leg.

Plantar Fasciitis — Morning heel pain or arch discomfort that flares with activity and persists despite standard stretching and footwear adjustments.

Hip Pain and Weakness — Hip discomfort or reduced output on one side affecting running efficiency, stride symmetry, or the ability to train at full effort.

Shin Splints — Lower-leg pain that increases with training load, often linked to cadence, foot strike, or impact absorption patterns gait analysis can identify.

Hamstring Strain or Tightness — Recurrent hamstring issues in runners that may relate to loading mechanics and stride demands rather than the muscle alone.

Recurring Injury Patterns — A history of setbacks in the same general area suggesting a movement or loading issue that hasn't been identified and addressed.

What Runners in Bellevue Are Saying

Verified Google reviews from runners and active people in the Bellevue area.

Dr. Lee was my PT when i had my wrist radius fracture during my snowboarding trip in Mt. Hood (May). I had my surgery in June 2023 and started PT with him in mid July. It took me 1.5 to return to my sports. I am an athlete and it is important for me to get back into my racket sports. Dr. is also an athletic person and he knows what my needs are. I couldnt recover faster without his help.

Terri Kan

Worked with Dr. Chris on a badminton injury that other PTs couldn’t figure out. I appreciate that he takes the time to explain how tendons/joints work together around focus areas and ultimately help me understand injury prevention better.

Erin H

I’ve had great experiences and results at Pinnacle - Chris is knowledgeable, effective, and understands the the need to get your body back on track when issues come up. Pinnacle is my first recommendation to anyone with a PT need.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions before your first running gait analysis at Continua Physio.

What happens during a running gait analysis?

Your run is recorded on video at various speeds and analyzed in detail. Your physical therapist reviews key movement patterns, load distribution, and potential compensation areas. The findings are then used to shape your care plan and guide your progressions.

Do I need to be injured to get a gait analysis?

No—many runners use gait analysis proactively to stay healthy or improve efficiency. If you're building mileage, preparing for a race, or want to address movement patterns before they create problems, gait analysis can be a useful starting point.

How long does a gait analysis take?

The analysis is integrated into a full initial evaluation, which runs approximately 60 minutes. That includes the video assessment, movement screen, and a conversation about your goals and training history so findings can be put in context.

What should I wear or bring to my appointment?

Wear what you normally run in—your usual shoes, shorts or fitted pants, and a form-fitting top so movement is visible on camera. Bring your current shoes if you have questions about footwear wear patterns. No special equipment needed.

Is gait analysis covered by insurance?

Continua Physio is a cash-based practice. We don't bill insurance directly, but we provide superbills you can submit for potential out-of-network reimbursement. HSA and FSA payments are accepted. Check with your insurer about your out-of-network PT benefits.
