Shoulder Pain Physical Therapy in Bellevue, WA

Your Shoulder Shouldn't Stop You.

Shoulder pain physical therapy at Continua Physio starts with understanding what's actually driving the limitation—not just where it hurts. We build a one-on-one plan around your shoulder, your goals, and how you want to move.

Waiting It Out Isn't a Shoulder Strategy.

The Shoulder Flares Up Every Time You Try to Load It

You rest, it quiets down—then comes right back the moment you lift, reach, or push overhead again. The cycle keeps repeating.

You've Changed Everything Except the Underlying Problem

Lighter weights, avoided movements, and extra warm-ups get you through sessions. But the shoulder still isn't right, and you know it.

Compensation Patterns Don't Stay in One Place

When the shoulder compensates, the neck, upper back, and elbow start picking up the extra load. New limitations tend to follow.

Common Conditions We Treat

What Shoulder Pain PT May Help Address

People come to us when shoulder pain, weakness, or stiffness is limiting what they can do in training, at work, or in daily movement. We look at what's driving it and address it from there.

Shoulder Pain — Aching, sharp, or dull shoulder discomfort that limits reaching overhead, pressing, or carrying without aggravating the area.

Rotator Cuff Issues — Shoulder weakness, pain with rotation, or reduced overhead strength that keeps you second-guessing how much to load and how hard to push.

Shoulder Impingement — Pain at the front or outer shoulder that emerges during specific movements and limits pressing, pulling, or overhead activity.

Frozen Shoulder / Restricted Motion — Progressive stiffness limiting shoulder range of motion, often affecting sleep, lifting, and basic daily reaching demands.

Post-Surgery Rehabilitation — Structured return to full function and load after rotator cuff repair, labral surgery, or shoulder stabilization procedures.

Overhead Athlete Limitations — Shoulder restrictions or discomfort in throwing athletes, swimmers, or lifters affecting power output and technique under load.

Shoulder and Neck Tension — Persistent stiffness in the upper trapezius and shoulder region common in desk workers and people with high postural demands.

Shoulder Instability — A history of dislocation, subluxation, or a shoulder that feels unreliable during loaded or dynamic movements affecting training and daily activity.

What Active People in Bellevue Are Saying

Excellent dry-needling work from Chris and overall strengthening to help me keep up with my girls and stay fit and fast. Thank you.

Gabriel Rodriguez

Chris helped me immensely after just one session. I was having pain in my gluteus minimus and TLF band. The dry needling paired with home exercises allowed me to feel a big enough reduction in pain to run a 5k only a week later. He is very knowledgeable and professional. I would highly recommend !

Devan Street

I started looking for a physical therapist when my "tennis" elbow was aggravated due to overuse. Luckily, I found Chris through a recommendation of a friend and I'm very happy with the results. The neuromuscular electrical stimulation was a weird sensation but I think very effective. My "tennis" elbow is almost non-existent! ... now if I can only remember to do the exercises at home.....

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions before your first shoulder PT appointment at Continua Physio.

What does shoulder pain physical therapy actually involve?

Your first appointment includes a full evaluation—how the shoulder moves, where it loads, and what's limiting it. From there, we build a care plan that typically combines hands-on treatment, targeted exercise, and a structured progression. Everything is one-on-one with your physical therapist for the full session.

How long does it take to see improvement with shoulder PT?

It depends on what's driving the limitation and how long it's been present. Many people notice meaningful improvement within a few sessions. We'll give you a clearer picture after your evaluation, including what progress should look like and how long a realistic course of care might run.

Do I need an MRI or diagnosis before coming in?

No—you can come in without an imaging report or prior diagnosis. We conduct our own assessment to understand what's limiting your shoulder and what needs to be addressed. If imaging would be useful, we'll let you know, but most shoulder issues can be evaluated and addressed without it.

Is shoulder PT different from just doing exercises at home?

The difference is the assessment behind it. Generic exercises can help generally, but hands-on treatment, movement screening, and a specific loading progression—shaped around what your shoulder actually needs—change what's possible. That requires a trained provider, not a list of movements.

Does Continua Physio take insurance for shoulder PT?

Continua Physio is a cash-based practice. We don't bill insurance directly, but we provide superbills you can submit for potential out-of-network reimbursement. HSA and FSA payments are accepted. Check with your insurer about your out-of-network PT benefits before your first visit.
