Acupuncture in Bellevue, WA
Needles With a Purpose.
Acupuncture at Continua Physio is built into your care — not offered as a standalone session. We use it to address muscle tension, pain, and movement restrictions that are limiting your progress, alongside hands-on therapy and targeted exercise.

Tension and Pain Don't Resolve on Their Own.
The Area Stays Tense No Matter What You Try
Foam rolling and stretching help temporarily. The tension keeps coming back because the underlying driver hasn't been addressed.
You're Working Around the Pain Instead of Through It
Modified movements and avoided positions get you through the day. The limitation is still there, and it compounds over time.
Progress Stalls When Something Isn't Releasing
When muscle restriction is stuck, strength and mobility work can only go so far. Clearing what's blocking progress matters.
Acupuncture That Fits Your Care Plan
Acupuncture at Continua Physio doesn't exist in a silo. It works alongside manual therapy, exercise, and movement assessment — chosen based on what your body needs, not as a default add-on.

What Acupuncture May Help Address
People come to us when pain, muscle tension, or nagging restrictions are slowing recovery and limiting what they can do. Acupuncture is one of the tools we use to help address what's driving it.
Neck and Shoulder Tension — Persistent tightness in the upper traps and neck that limits mobility, disrupts sleep, or builds throughout the day regardless of stretching.
Low Back Pain — Aching, tightness, or limited range of motion in the lower back that keeps interrupting training, work, or basic daily movement patterns.
Headaches and Migraines — Tension-type or recurring headaches that may be connected to muscle tightness in the neck and upper traps, limiting function and focus.
Hip Pain and Restriction — Deep hip tightness or pain that limits training load, range of motion, or the ability to move freely without guarding or compensation.
Knee and Leg Overuse — Recurring tension, tightness, or discomfort in the quads, IT band, or hamstrings limiting training volume and recovery between sessions.
Shoulder Pain and Stiffness — Limited shoulder mobility or pain with reaching, pressing, or overhead activity that hands-on work alone hasn't fully cleared.
Tendinopathy and Soft Tissue Restrictions — Stubborn tendon irritation or tissue restrictions slowing return to full training loads and limiting the effectiveness of other rehab work.
Post-Surgery or Post-Injury Recovery — Tightness, scar tissue, and restricted mobility following procedures or injuries where additional soft tissue work can support overall progress.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions before your first acupuncture appointment at Continua Physio.
Your acupuncture sessions are integrated into your overall care plan — not a separate visit. Your physical therapist selects it when it's the right tool for what your body needs, typically alongside hands-on work and exercise. You'll know exactly what's being used and why before each session starts.
At Continua Physio, acupuncture is one tool in a broader care plan — not a standalone treatment. It's chosen based on your movement assessment and what's limiting your progress, and it works alongside manual therapy, exercise, and targeted progressions. The goal is always your specific outcome, not a session protocol.
Most people find acupuncture tolerable — sensations range from a brief ache or pressure to little discomfort at all. Needle size, placement, and depth are selected carefully based on the area being treated. Any discomfort during treatment typically resolves quickly, and most people adapt well after the first session or two.
No referral is needed. You can book directly — we'll conduct our own evaluation to understand what's limiting you and whether acupuncture fits your care plan. If you're already working with us for PT, acupuncture can be added when it makes sense for your current goals.
Continua Physio is a cash-based practice. We don't bill insurance directly, but we provide superbills you can submit for potential out-of-network reimbursement. HSA and FSA payments are accepted. Check with your insurer about your out-of-network benefits before your first visit.
