Knee Pain Physical Therapy in Bellevue, WA

Stop Protecting It. Start Building It.

Knee pain physical therapy at Continua Physio starts with finding out what's actually driving your limitation — not just where it hurts. We build a one-on-one plan around your knee, your training, and the demands you're working toward.

A Knee That Keeps Flaring Up Is Telling You Something.

The Pain Quiets Down Until You Load It Again

Rest brings it down temporarily. The moment you ramp training back up, the same limitation returns — because nothing about the underlying driver has changed.

You're Working Around It Instead of Through It

Swapping movements, avoiding depth, and cutting volume gets you by. But the knee still isn't right, and modified training only delays what needs to be addressed.

Compensation Patterns Build New Problems

When the knee is guarded, the hip, ankle, and low back absorb what it isn't doing. Compensation doesn't stay in one place, and new limitations tend to follow.

Common Conditions We Treat

What Knee Pain PT May Help Address

People come to us when knee pain, stiffness, or swelling is limiting training, running, or daily movement. We look at what's driving it and address it from there.

Runner's Knee (Patellofemoral Pain) — Aching or sharp pain around or behind the kneecap that worsens with running, stairs, or prolonged sitting and limits your ability to train at volume. Often addressed through running physical therapy.

IT Band Syndrome — Sharp or burning pain on the outer knee that builds during runs or bike rides and often forces you to stop before you planned, limiting mileage and progression.

Meniscus Issues — Pain, swelling, or locking sensations in the knee joint that limit squatting, loading, or basic movement — affecting training volume and day-to-day function.

ACL Recovery and Return to Sport — Post-surgery or post-injury progressions with running gait analysis and return-to-sport testing to confirm readiness before full return to training or competition.

Patellar Tendinopathy — Tendon pain below the kneecap that flares with jumping, squatting, or loading — a common overuse issue in athletes and active adults building training volume.

Post-Surgery Rehabilitation — Structured return to function and load after ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair, or knee replacement, progressed at a pace your body can actually handle.

Knee Osteoarthritis and Stiffness — Joint pain, swelling, and reduced range of motion that interfere with walking, stairs, and activity — often manageable with the right loading and movement strategies.

Knee and Hamstring Overuse — Recurring tightness, strain, or overload at the back of the knee and proximal hamstring that limits training consistency and performance in running and sport.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions before your first knee PT appointment at Continua Physio.

What does knee pain physical therapy actually involve?

Your first appointment includes a thorough evaluation — how your knee moves, loads, and where it breaks down. From there, we build a care plan that typically combines hands-on treatment, targeted exercise, and a structured progression. Every session is one-on-one with your physical therapist for the full hour.

How long does it take to see results with knee PT?

It depends on what's driving the limitation and how long it's been present. Many people notice meaningful changes within a few sessions. After your evaluation, we'll give you a realistic timeline — including what progress should look like at each stage and how long a full course of care typically runs.

Do I need an MRI or diagnosis before coming in?

No — you can come in without imaging or a prior diagnosis. We conduct our own assessment to understand what's limiting your knee and what needs to be addressed. If imaging would be useful, we'll let you know. Most knee issues can be fully evaluated and addressed without it.

Is knee PT different from exercises I find on my own?

The difference is the assessment behind it. Generic exercises can help generally, but hands-on treatment, movement screening, and a specific loading progression — shaped around what your knee actually needs — change what's possible. That level of precision requires a trained provider, not a generic program.

Does Continua Physio take insurance for knee PT?

Continua Physio is a cash-based practice. We don't bill insurance directly, but we provide superbills you can submit for potential out-of-network reimbursement. HSA and FSA payments are accepted. Check with your insurer about your out-of-network PT benefits before your first visit.
